Also consuming a lot of racing media (ie social media accounts, documentaries on current horses, etc) helps to give them a “character” which is a lot easier to follow. This gives me something to cheer on, be connected to, and follow like a football team I suppose. I work for a large stable who has about 150 horses, so you can guarantee there will be one running somewhere in the country any given day. ![]() Now that I got a job in racing I rarely gamble (like $5 a month maximum), and find that I can enjoy it much more without viewing horses as a financial prospect and more of a “character”. I’m in Australia, so our big races are a lot different, but in terms of following horses without gambling, I used to gamble about $20 a week.
